Locke

John Locke (1632-1704) was one of the towering philosophers of the Enlightenment fermentation lock and arguably the greatest English philosopher. Fermentation lock - The fermentation lock or airlock is a device used in beer brewing and wine making that allows carbon dioxide released by the beer to escape the fermenter, while not allowing air to enter the fermenter, thus avoiding possible bacterial contamination.

Carboy - A carboy is a glass vessel used in fermenting wine, mead, and beer. Usually it is fitted with a rubber stopper and a fermentation lock to prevent bacteria from entering during the fermentation process.
